Jay Sears and the Growth of NewQuest

Jay Sears is a commercial real estate executive and a cofounder and managing partner of NewQuest. His work centers on new development, strategic opportunities, acquisitions, and asset management. Jay K. Sears helped establish the company in 2001 following the merger of Sears Realty Company, which he founded in 1996, with Quest Properties. Before the merger, Jay Sears built Sears Realty into a commercial brokerage and development firm serving grocery and retail clients across the greater Houston area. The company handled site selection, development, management, and leasing for grocery anchored shopping centers, with transactions involving Albertsons, Walgreens, Kroger, H E B, Petco, and 24 Hour Fitness.

As a managing partner of NewQuest, Mr. Sears has been responsible for the development of more than 160 retail and mixed-use projects, representing more than $4 billion in developed assets. His work has included projects such as Texas Heritage Marketplace, Kyle Park, Aliana Phase III, Fort Bend Town Center, Naperville, Arrowhead, and West on West.

Jay K. Sears' role at NewQuest includes guiding asset management strategy, leasing, architectural and design direction, market research, and identifying new market opportunities. He also focuses on retail trends, consumer behavior, hospitality and entertainment development, and real estate technology.

Under Mr. Sears's leadership, NewQuest manages 10.5 million square feet and more than 100 tenant representation accounts.
